Here's something I could never hold back. Shadow of the Colossus is my favorite single game of all time. I could sing the praises of this game all day, but I'll give you the short version without spoilers...
SOTC has one of the most exhilarating and eerie atmospheres of any video game I have ever played. The landscape is beautiful and flows seamlessly and naturally. The colossi are enormous. The love story is one of the deepest, most genuine, and most profound I have ever witnessed. It's a romance, an action, a tragedy... But most of all, a masterpiece.
The game mechanics flow incredibly well with the game once you get used to them. The AI of your horse, Agro, allows for one of the most impacting player-companion relationship in a video game. The only flaw I've found with the game would be the occasional issues with camera angles. However, the style of camera control benefits the immersion through 90% of the game thanks to its cinematic approach. As you progress through the game you begin to learn of a darker truth concerning what you are doing. As a player, you begin to wonder about the morality of your actions and whether or not the risks are worth it or if what you wish will truly be realized. Of course you have to play to find out!
Once you play through the whole game look up some theories on the story if you so desire, or try to piece it together for yourself! I highly recommend the HD PS3 version for the best experience possible. So pick it up for an incredible journey!
